What is Streaming Video?

• Many people do not have the upgraded equipment that is required to play it effectively on their computers

• Non-streaming video remains the primary delivery method

Notes:

There are two primary methods of transmitting video files via the internet, Streaming Video and Progressive Video.

Streaming Video can be live or can be a recorded event that is presented as if it were live.

This requires a video feed being transmitted to a streaming provider that then sends the signal on to the viewer.

Since most video media are quite large in size, this method can be costly.

In situations where many people are watching the 'streaming' event at one time, the cost is significantly less than in situation where individuals are watching at different times.
