Computer

  • MAC's – If you have a MAC, it is likely that all you will need to do is add a camera.

  • Microsoft based PC's tend to do things as if only Microsoft existed in the computer world.

  • Linux and Unix (as well as MAC's and PC's) both have extensive support for all your needs through: http://sourceforge.net/

  • Requirement for RAM and Harddisk space will be determined by the camera and software selected

Notes:

There really is no way that I can give you any specific parameters for Ram and harddisk space. Everyone uses computers differently and has different software requirements on their systems that affect the available RAM and disk space.

I have used my camera and programs on an XP based PC with 64 MB RAM & 20 Gb harddisk without difficulty other than being a bit slower than the PC laptop I generally use that has 3GB RAM and 140 GB harddisk.

When in doubt, simply check your system and then contact the the manufacturer of the equipment or software you intend to use and ask if your system will work. I do not recommend asking one of the people working at a distributor (i.e., Best Buy)!! That was a fairly expensive mistake that I learned from quickly!
